They inhibit the synthesis of vitamin K2 in your body. Vitamin K2 is needed as it protects your arteries from calcification. Without vitamin K2, plaque levels worsen. Not only does vitamin K2 help move calcium into the proper areas in your body, it also assists in removing calcium from areas where it shouldn’t be. Statins have been shown to deplete your body of CoQ10 and impair heart muscle mitochondria function.
